Alcatraz

While planning our trip, I kept reading that Alcatraz was a must see while in San Francisco. I wasn’t sure prior to going if it would live up to the hype but I’m happy to report that it did! As everyone will tell you, GO EARLY. We went on the first boat of the day on a weekday and it was packed out by the time we were half way through the tour. There are gorgeous views of San Fran on the boat trip over and the island itself has beautiful gardens and great views of the bay. The audio guide is very well done and provides fascinating insight into the history of the jail. If you’re in the area definitely make the time to visit!
